On Friday 17 July 2026, Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy announced the launch of a sixth call for projects (PV6) to support businesses investing in photovoltaic installations and battery storage solutions.
According to the ministry, the scheme is open to companies planning to build photovoltaic installations with capacities ranging from 30 kWp to 3,000 kWp, with particular emphasis on projects incorporating battery storage.
The announcement follows the fifth call for projects (PV5), which closed in April 2026. Under that scheme, sixteen of the 21 applications received were selected for funding totalling €1,113,264.87, supporting projects representing 1.934 MWp of installed capacity. Open to businesses of all sizes, PV5 focused particularly on smaller installations with capacities between 30 kWp and 200 kWp.
Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, said: "This new call for projects continues our efforts to promote renewable energy and support the energy transition. Beyond installing new generation capacity, it also helps strengthen the resilience of the electricity system, particularly by supporting projects that integrate battery storage, a key technology for improving the flexibility and efficiency of the grid. The encouraging results of the fifth call demonstrate the commitment of businesses, including SMEs, to this approach."
The ministry noted that, in addition to supporting new photovoltaic capacity, PV6 encourages businesses to maximise the value of the electricity they generate, particularly through self-consumption. Projects incorporating battery storage will benefit from enhanced financial support, reflecting their strategic role in the energy transition.
The call for projects has a total budget of €10 million, divided into three categories:
- photovoltaic installations on building rooftops or land in business zones (30 kWp to 3,000 kWp);
- innovative photovoltaic installations, including lightweight rooftop modules and façade-mounted systems (30 kWp to 2,000 kWp);
- photovoltaic carport installations (30 kWp to 2,000 kWp).
Each category includes separate sub-categories for projects with and without battery storage.
Funding will be awarded through a competitive selection process based on the criteria set out in the tender specifications.
Businesses can submit applications until Wednesday 30 September 2026. More information on the calls for projects and eligibility criteria can be found at: guichet.lu.
