On Saturday 4 April 2026, the Kazakhstan Luxembourg Cooperation asbl celebrated “Nauryz” with a “Welcome Spring!” event at the Tre Chiavi restaurant in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.
The event aimed to bring people together to celebrate the arrival of spring after the winter period, with members of the community attending from the Grand Duchy and Germany.
Halim Titsaoui, Co-Founder of the Kazakhstan Luxembourg Cooperation, told Chronicle.lu that Nauryz is “the celebration of spring… the revival of nature” and is also considered the New Year in Kazakh culture, traditionally marked on 21 March and aimed at bringing together people of different nationalities.
He added that the event featured traditional elements, including a dombra performance by a musician from Amsterdam, noting that the dombra is Kazakhstan’s national instrument and holds strong cultural significance. Traditional food was also served, including “kozhe”, a Kazakh soup prepared specifically for Nauryz, as well as “palau” (pilaf), a rice and meat dish common across Central Asian cuisines.
Arman Aitkuzhinov, who travelled from Trier, highlighted the importance of such events, particularly for younger generations, noting: “for me and for our family, it is important to show the kids their roots, where they come from, and to remind them of their homeland and traditions.”
He described the gathering as a meaningful opportunity to connect with people from Kazakhstan and across Central Asia, share experiences and celebrate cultural traditions together.
