Luxembourg’s ministries have announced the launch of first BNE Days 2026, a week dedicated to education for sustainable development, taking place from Monday 16 to Friday 20 March 2026 across the Grand Duchy.

The launch of the BNE Days marks the first time, when the traditional BNE Fair forms part of a full week of initiatives and activities, focusing on three main pillars: youth; networking; and training.

The initiative is jointly led by Luxembourg’s Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity (MECB), Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth (MENJE) and the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign and European affairs (MAE), together with educational, associative and institutional partners.

BNE Youth will include a programme of activities, offered to children and young people across the country, featuring workshops, guided visits, exhibitions, rallies and challenges focusing on themes related to sustainable development.

These activities, organised by schools, NGOs and associations working with young people, aim to raise awareness among young people about issues linked to climate protection, responsible consumption and a fair society. They also encourage them to take action in a practical and engaging way.

BNE Networking will be open to everyone, taking place from Thursday 19 March from 09:00 to 14:30 at Forum Geesseknäppchen, representing one of the highlights of the BNE Days. Visitors will get invited to discover more than 75 interactive exhibition stands presenting educational initiatives related to sustainability. NGOs, administrations, educational institutions, museums and committed organisations will present their tools, projects and activities to inspire teachers, educators, young people and anyone interested in the topic.

The event will offer interactive stands, opportunities to meet directly with project teams, and a space for discussion to develop new collaborations and initiatives in sustainable development. Entry is free and no registration is required.

BNE Training will offer an expanded programme of continuing professional development certified by the Institute for National Education Training (IFEN) to teachers, educators and other professionals in the sector. Participants will explore new content through seminars organised throughout the year and strengthen their practices related to education for sustainable development.

Education for sustainable development plays an essential role in implementing the United Nations Agenda 2030. It aims to develop, from an early age, the skills needed to understand the climate, social and economic challenges facing society, while empowering young people to take action.
