Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth has announced that the seventh edition of the Summer School will take place from Monday 31 August to Friday 11 September 2026, offering guided activities and refresher courses for primary and secondary school pupils.
The Summer School provides pupils with an opportunity to refresh their knowledge, consolidate what they learned during the past school year and catch up on any gaps in their main subjects.
Launched in 2020 to address learning gaps linked to the COVID-19 crisis, the programme has since become an established part of Luxembourg's academic support system. It aims to address the diverse needs of pupils and contribute to greater equality of opportunity.
This year, 7,430 registrations were recorded for guided activities, including 5,579 from fundamental (primary) education and 1,851 from secondary education.
In primary education, language activities accounted for 72.74% of registrations, with German being the most requested language. Mathematics courses represented 27.26% of registrations.
In secondary education, mathematics was the most popular subject, accounting for 36.1% of registrations, followed by French at 28.3% and German at 22.9%.
Pupils in both primary and secondary education will be supervised by teachers as well as students who hold at least a secondary school leaving diploma.
Summer School lessons are based on thematic materials developed by the Coordination Service for Educational and Technological Research and Innovation (SCRIPT). These cover the main subjects: German, French and mathematics in primary education; and German, French, English and mathematics in secondary education for classes from Cycle 2 to 4e.
The materials have been accessible via the Summer School platform using each pupil's IAM login since 15 July 2026 and will remain available until Saturday 15 September 2026. They include model answers and can be used independently or with parental support at any time during the school holidays.
According to the ministry, the platform was already visited 9,950 times between 15 July and Monday 24 August 2026, while the available materials were downloaded 23,815 times.
