In celebration of International Women's Day, the British and Canadian Embassies in Luxembourg have launched the third edition of the “Diplomat for a Day” competition, opening a call for applications.

The joint initiative aims to encourage young women in Luxembourg to become leaders, advocates for change and future actors in international affairs, providing an opportunity to experience the world of international diplomacy firsthand.

Winners will be invited to spend a day with the British and Canadian Embassies in Luxembourg, shadowing senior diplomats and embassy leaders and gaining insight into the daily work of international diplomacy. Participants will also take part in discussions and activities focused on international relations, leadership and the importance of equal rights for women and girls.

The programme will take place on Tuesday 10 March 2026. Selected participants will engage directly with ambassadors, politicians and local leaders, gaining a rare behind-the-scenes perspective on how diplomacy contributes to addressing global and local challenges.

In previous editions, the US Embassy in Luxembourg was also involved in the competition.
