Campus Contern, a rented office space, announced Friday that it has taken a further step in its environmental impact considerations by creating a beneficial ecosystem in its offices to continuously combat indoor pollution.
The buildings of Campus Contern were originally constructed to limit its environmental footprint and now the purity of the building interior has been taken into account.
"The buildings have no pollution problem," announced Marc Diver, Campus Contern Administrator. "We use BioOrg because it is a natural and effective solution to ensure the quality and sustainability of the complex over time; it is important. And this also allows our occupants to develop in a healthy environment".
The principle behind the eco-friendly office environment is based on a naturally-occurring harmless bacteria which is sprayed through the building and the ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems in order to purify the environment. Whilst this purifying eliminates more than 20% of the ambient pollution, positive bacteria act wherever air flows to permanently destroy allergens, dust, odours and pollutants.
The solution is a simple but effective one, replacing conventional chemical cleaners with compatible products which facilitate environmentally-conscious cleaning techniques without asking staff to change their habits or protect themselves from the corrosive elements of detergents.
In addition, nothing is created, transformed or added, but rather consists of a biodynamic ecosystem which survives by feeding on particles, pollutants and odours which are harmful to humans.
The technique has already been employed in Belgium, at establishments such as Brussels Airport, the European Commission, IBM and Novotel and will now be used at the 8,900 m2 office complex of Campus Contern from 29/30 September 2015.
