On Thursday 14 May 2026, the tenth edition of Luxembourg's Light Leaks Festival of photography opened at Rotondes in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie.
The festival, which runs from Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 May, features displays of images taken by local photographers and will host a number of workshops involving a variety of guest photographers.
For the tenth edition, the festival returned to the main Rotondes building following the completion of renovation works which forced a change of format for the event in 2025.
Dirk Mevis, member of the Luxembourg Street Photo Collective, welcomed around 200 attendees to the opening and thanked the event’s sponsors and those involved in running the festival, as well as detailing the various activities taking place across the event’s duration.
In the Rotondes, visitors were welcomed by the collective’s members and entertained with music by a guest DJ. The foyer contained a market offering a wide range of photography books, as well as the “Bazaar”, which offers Luxembourg street and documentary photographers the opportunity to showcase and sell their work and offering the opportunity for visitors to converse with them about their work.
Upon entering the main exhibition, visitors walk past the “Open Wall”, a blank installation which grows as people place their own selected photo to the wall. A jury appointed by the festival will select the standout contributions, with prizes awaiting the selected photographers.
In the main exhibition area, photos from the main exhibitors are set up on displays which divide the room into mini galleries, with each featuring contributions from members of the Luxembourg Street Photo Collective, invited artists, the winner of the Luxembourg Street Photo Collective 2025 Slidenight and students from the Lycée Aline Mayrisch and Lycée des Arts et Métiers.
The Rotondes’ neighbouring Klub venue also features a photographic installation from Luxembourg photographer Giulia Thinnes titled “Interference” and a video installation titled “Pas ici, mais là-bas” (“Not here, but over there”) from local photographer Samantha Wilvert.
As part of the festival, attendees are invited to participate in a vote to select the People’s Choice Award, with the winning photographer announced during the award ceremony at the festival’s closing on Sunday 17 May.
Entry to the main exhibition is free. The full itinerary for the festival can be found at: https://www.lightleaks.lu
