On Thursday 24 July 2025, Luxembourg vice-champion UNA Strassen played away against Scottish club Dundee United at Tannadice Park in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the 2025/26 UEFA Europa Conference League.
Both teams were playing their first official match of the 2025/26 season. The hosts created several early chances, with UNA Strassen goalkeeper Ömer Özcan called into action twice within the opening twelve minutes.
In total, Dundee United produced thirteen attempts on goal, eight of which were on target. While Stefani Bensi’s team managed to keep a clean sheet in the first half, the deadlock was broken just two minutes after the restart, when Zachary Sapsford scored with a strike from outside the box.
The 1-0 scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle, although UNA Strassen had opportunities to equalise late in the game. In the 83rd minute, Daryl Myre forced a save from Dundee goalkeeper Yevhenii Kucherenko, who was also on hand to stop a third-minute stoppage-time effort from Matheus De Souza.
Luxembourg vice-champion will look to overturn the narrow deficit in the return leg, scheduled to take place on Thursday 31 July 2025 at 19:00 at the Stade Municipal de la Ville de Differdange.
