On Saturday 3 October 2026, Luxembourg’s national football team suffered a 1-0 away defeat against Estonia at the A. Le Coq Arena in Tallinn in their third match of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League Group C4 campaign.
Following Luxembourg’s 3-0 home defeat against Iceland on Tuesday 29 September, head coach Jeff Strasser made four changes to his starting lineup. Vahid Selimovic, Enzo Duarte, Omar Natami and Jayson Videira came into the side in place of Laurent Jans, Leandro Barreiro, Hamza Kadamani and Mathias Olesen, with Anthony Moris captaining the team.
The Red Lions captain made his first save as early as the fifth minute. Mattias Käit broke into the penalty area from the left and sent an effort towards the far corner, which the Luxembourg goalkeeper saved, Rasmus Peetson reached the rebound first and fired the ball into the net to give Estonia a 1-0 lead.
Luxembourg had an opportunity to equalise in the 21st minute when Vincent Thill delivered a cross towards the near post from the right, but Omar Natami was unable to turn the ball into the corner of the net with his first touch.
Both teams continued to look for opportunities, although neither managed to create another clear attempt on goal before the break.
Jeff Strasser’s team threatened again in the 52nd minute when Vincent Thill took a direct free kick from around 25 metres out, slightly to the right, but sent his effort narrowly wide of the top corner.
Patrick Kristal tested the Luxembourg goalkeeper from distance in the 69th minute, with Moris again denying the hosts. The Red Lions captain was called into action several more times as the match progressed, but the score remained 1-0 in Estonia’s favour until the final whistle.
In the other Group C4 match, Iceland defeated Bulgaria 3-0. Luxembourg will host their next Group C4 match at the Stade de Luxembourg at 20:45 on Tuesday 6 October 2026, against the same opponents they beat in their opening fixture.
