On Friday 19 September 2025, the Fondation de Luxembourg announced the appointment of Alain Kinsch as its new President.
Mr Kinsch succeeds Henri Grethen, whose mandate had reached the maximum duration of ten years.
The Fondation de Luxembourg described Mr Kinsch as an experienced leader and said that as Vice-President of the Luxembourg Council of State, he brings extensive expertise to the Fondation’s highest decision-making body.
In addition to his role at the Council of State, Mr Kinsch currently serves as President of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, Vice-President of SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde and as an independent director on the boards of several major companies across diverse sectors. He also has extensive experience in auditing, having served as Country Managing Partner for EY Luxembourg.
The Board of Directors honoured Henri Grethen for his service over two five-year terms and noted that his dedication and extensive career “significantly strengthened the Fondation’s reputation during a period of phenomenal growth”.
“I wish to thank my fellow Board members for their active collaboration over the past ten years. I also wish my successor, Mr Kinsch, every success in his new role. My time at the Fondation de Luxembourg has been extremely rewarding and I look forward to watching it continue to prosper in the years ahead,” stated Mr Grethen.
Alain Kinsch joins the Board of Directors alongside Danièle Wagener, Gilles Roth, Yves Kuhn, Anne Reuland, Martine Solovieff and Gilles Walers.
Regarding his new role, Mr Kinsch said: “I am deeply honoured to succeed Mr Henri Grethen and to guide the Fondation de Luxembourg through its next stages. As President, I look forward to applying my experience in business, politics, diplomacy and, of course, philanthropy. I hope to help the Fondation make Luxembourg a prime destination for philanthropists from across Europe. I am excited to collaborate with the other Board members and with Managing Director Tonika Hirdman to achieve all our philanthropic ambitions.”
