On Monday 11 May 2026, the Maison du Grand-Duc announced the appointment of Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg as Honorary Chairman of the World Scout Foundation.
Grand Duke Guillaume participated in the World Scout Foundation Board's Annual Meeting and the 78th Baden-Powell Fellowship Event in Stockholm, Sweden, on Thursday 7 and Saturday 9 May 2026.
On this occasion, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, who has served as Honorary Chairman since 1977, officially conferred the honorary presidency of the World Scout Foundation upon the Grand Duke.
According to the Maison du Grand-Duc, this appointment reflects the Grand Duke's long-standing commitment to the Scout movement and its values. The Head of State has been involved with the World Scout Foundation for many years and previously chaired its Board of Directors.
The honorary presidency of the World Scout Foundation is a representational role in support of the international reach of Scouting. The foundation works to fund and develop educational projects and initiatives for young people worldwide, in support of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, which brings together national Scout organisations from more than 170 countries.
