On Tuesday 8 September 2026, the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association (ABBL), the oldest and largest professional association in Luxembourg's financial sector, announced that its CEO Jerry Grbic will step down at the end of October 2026 to pursue a new entrepreneurial venture.

His departure comes after several years of transformation at the ABBL, during which the association said it had strengthened cross-functional collaboration, developed closer ties with its members and expanded its engagement with wider issues affecting Luxembourg's financial centre and economy.

The ABBL noted that the financial sector is increasingly dealing with issues that cut across traditional business areas, including digitalisation, payments, sustainability, financial crime, artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. The association has also broadened its membership beyond banks to represent a wider range of financial-sector players.

In recent years, the ABBL has also strengthened cooperation with the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (ACA), the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) and Luxembourg for Finance. It has become more involved in issues beyond financial regulation, notably housing, where it has worked with stakeholders including representatives of the real estate sector.

Reflecting on his time at the association, Jerry Grbic said: “I have learned an enormous amount at the ABBL - about our sector, about the financial ecosystem, but also about myself. Thanks to our colleagues, our members and our many stakeholders, I emerge personally stronger from this experience.”

He added that the changes undertaken at the ABBL were the result of a collective effort and expressed hope that he would leave behind a stronger association.

Yves Stein, Chairman of the ABBL, thanked Jerry Grbic for his contribution, highlighting his “calmness, his ability to listen and his negotiating skills”, particularly in the area of social dialogue. “We wish him every success in this new venture,” he added.

The ABBL's Board of Directors has launched the process of appointing Jerry Grbic's successor to ensure an orderly transition and continuity of the association's activities. According to the ABBL, the leadership change will not affect its strategic priorities or ongoing work.
