For those wanting to learn to speak Luxembourgish, the municipality of Strassen has just anniunced that it is organising lanugaues classes which are ideal for adult learners to enjoy a practical and social experience while learning the Luxembourgish language and culture; two classes are being organised especially for English speakers.
The course is for beginners and no prior knowledge of the Luxembourgish language is required. It is ideal for starting a life in Luxembourg, preparing for work commitments or as a stepping stone to start one’s path to mastering the language. Participants learn the basics of the language such as how to introduce oneself and numbering. Grammatical elements are also introduced as you start to learn basic speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
COURSE CONTENT
This Luxembourgish course covers the following topics:
- Greetings
- Introducing yourself and others
- Language used in a café context
- Numbers from 1 – 1,000
- Pronunciation of letters
- Introduction to regular and irregular verbs
- Articles – definite, indefinite and negative
- Nouns – singular and plural
- Classroom communication/conversation
- Luxembourgish names of cities and countries
COURSE DELIVERY
This course is held on Monday evenings from 18:30 - 20:30 or on Wednesday from 09:00 - 11:00 in Strassen, starting in September 2015. More information is available on www.strassen.lu (Life Long Learning).
