On Tuesday 24 February 2026, Luxembourg's Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth, together with the National Institute of Languages Luxembourg (INLL), announced that more than 7,800 people have registered to discover a new language or further develop their language skills.
The same day marked the start of the spring semester. The INLL is offering more than 560 language courses for adults across its three sites (INLL-Glacis, INLL-Belval and INLL-Mersch). In addition to Luxembourg’s three administrative languages – Luxembourgish, German and French – courses are available in English, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese and Russian, as well as beginner courses in Arabic, Korean and Japanese.
Updates and Developments
The free Luxembourgish learning platform LLO.lu has been updated with a new web version released in early February, offering more interactive and varied exercises, regularly renewed content and a stronger focus on pronunciation. Access from level A1 to B2 remains open to all without the need to create an account.
The second session of the Zertifikat Lëtzebuergesch Léiere Léieren (ZLLL) training programme, for which registrations closed in January, begins this month with 27 participants. The course is delivered twice per academic year in a blended learning format, with 50% of classes held in person (including literature, linguistics and didactics modules) and 50% provided asynchronously online. Registrations for the September 2026 intake will open in June 2026.
The Luxembourgish-language podcast “Poterkëscht”, launched on 22 February 2024, is celebrating its second anniversary. The podcast now counts 169 episodes and more than 222,000 listens, with new episodes released weekly, inviting listeners to explore Luxembourgish language and culture.
The ministry and INLL noted that, to register for a course, subject to availability, any adult who is not a beginner in the target language must complete an online test and make an appointment for an orientation interview in order to obtain a recommended level. Appointments are available throughout the academic year via INLL website.
