On Wednesday 24 June 2026, Luxembourg's national weather service, MeteoLux, confirmed that the red heat warning remains in force until Friday 26 June 2026 across the country.
As published earlier this week, Luxembourg is experiencing the extreme heat that prompted MeteoLux to issue the red warning ahead of National Day celebrations.
MeteoLux said high pressure over Central Europe continues to bring a very warm air mass. On Wednesday dry and sunny conditions are expected, with afternoon temperatures reaching between 32°C and 34°C in the north and 35°C to 37°C in the south.
On Thursday 25 June, temperatures are expected to reach between 33°C and 35°C in the north and between 36°C and 38°C in the south. They are forecast to rise to as high as 39°C on Friday 26 June and 40°C on Saturday 27 June, before easing slightly on Sunday 28 June 2026.
The authorities once again reminded to drink plenty of water, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during the hottest part of the day and check on vulnerable people, including older adults, young children and those with chronic health conditions.
