On Tuesday 21 July 2026, Luxembourg's Ministry of Home Affairs announced that it had appointed the consultancy firm Résultance to carry out the previously announced audit of the Foreigners Department within the Directorate General of Immigration.
The ministry said the audit is administrative in nature and separate from the ongoing judicial investigation. It will examine the governance and internal control system of the Foreigners Department.
The ministry also provided an update on the officials concerned, following requests for information.
It confirmed that three officials from the Directorate General of Immigration were relieved of their duties between 4 April and 5 May 2025, with those measures lifted on 6 May 2025. However, one of the three officials has remained suspended since December 2025.
The ministry added that, following the search carried out at the Directorate General of Immigration on 7 July 2026, two additional officials were suspended.
The ministry further reiterated that the presumption of innocence applies and stressed the need to respect the confidentiality of the ongoing judicial investigation.
