The Grand Ducal Police have reported that three arrests were made across Luxembourg between the evening of Thursday 23 and the early hours of Friday 24 July, including one in relation to an international arrest warrant.

According to the police, on the evening of Thursday 23 July, the Fugitive Search Unit of the Luxembourg Criminal Police, in close cooperation with the Special Unit, located and arrested an internationally wanted man.

An Interpol Red Notice had been issued against the Montenegrin national by the Montenegrin authorities. He was wanted on suspicion of the illegal manufacture, possession and sale of narcotics.

The location and arrest were carried out as part of cross-border cooperation within the European Network of Fugitive Active Search Teams (ENFAST), of which both Luxembourg and Montenegro are members.

In addition, the police reported that at around 17:00 on Thursday 23 July, officers observed a suspected drug deal. A police patrol was subsequently sent to the scene and located the suspect who had previously been observed. During a search, officers found a total of seventeen individually packaged packets of drugs. A rapid drug test returned a positive result for cocaine.

On the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was arrested. The drugs, a mobile phone and cash were seized. The man was subsequently taken to prison and appeared before an investigating judge the following morning.

Then, at around 00:30 on Friday 24 July, the police were informed of a theft from a vehicle on Rue de la Chiers in Sanem. Initial findings indicated that one of the vehicle’s windows had already been damaged and that the suspect had fled in another vehicle.

As part of the immediate search operation launched, a suspect was located. During the attempt to arrest the individual, both the alleged perpetrator and a police officer were injured. During the subsequent search, suspected stolen goods from the affected vehicle were recovered and returned to the owner.

On the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was arrested and appeared before an investigating judge the following morning. Several official reports were drawn up.
