The Grand Ducal Police have reported that two drivers were stopped overnight for drink-driving offences which occurred near Merscherberg and Schifflange.
According to the police, at approximately 22:00 on Friday 4 September, they were alerted to a car travelling unusually slowly on the A1 motorway in the direction of the A7. Two police patrols subsequently attempted to stop the vehicle and the car was eventually stopped at Merscherberg.
After several attempts, an alcohol test was carried out and showed an elevated result. The driving licence of the suspected offender was subsequently seized.
Later, at around 01:00 on Saturday 5 September, police were alerted to a car travelling at excessive speed and swerving from side to side in the Foetz area. According to the caller, the vehicle had already almost caused an accident.
Police officers eventually stopped the vehicle in Schifflange. An alcohol test carried out on the driver returned an elevated reading.
The driver was issued with a provisional driving ban and the vehicle was towed away.
