On Thursday 5 November 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported an arrest following two credit card fraud incidents and warned of further scams involving criminals impersonating LuxTrust employees to access victims' bank accounts.

According to police, it received reports of two credit card fraud incidents on Rue de la Résistance in Huncherange and Rue du Floss in Diekirch on Monday 2 November 2026. Officers located a female suspect shortly afterwards. On the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office, she was arrested, brought before an investigating judge and subsequently transferred to a detention facility. Police also seized money, mobile phones and a vehicle.

In a separate incident on the afternoon of Wednesday 4 November 2026, a man received a call from someone claiming to work for LuxTrust, who alleged that a suspicious transaction had been detected on his bank account. During the conversation, the fraudster managed to carry out several transfers between the victim's accounts.

The caller also claimed that a bank employee would collect the man's bank cards. Shortly afterwards, an unknown person arrived, snatched the cards and fled. A substantial sum was subsequently withdrawn from an ATM using one of the cards. Police launched an investigation.

Another case was reported overnight into Thursday 5 November 2026. A fraudster posing as a LuxTrust employee told a man that an unauthorised transaction was about to take place through an online booking platform. To supposedly cancel it, the victim was instructed to follow an emailed link, log into his LuxTrust account and approve several requests in the LuxTrust app.

The man later discovered that a substantial sum had been transferred from his accounts to several unknown accounts.

Police warned residents never to share banking details, passwords or access codes over the phone, approve unexpected LuxTrust requests or follow links sent during suspicious calls. They also stressed that neither LuxTrust nor banks send employees to collect payment cards from customers.

Anyone who suspects fraud should end the call and contact their bank or LuxTrust through official channels.

Victims are advised to block their bank cards by contacting Worldline on tel: 49 10 10 and suspend their LuxTrust agreement by tel: 24 550 550. They should also contact their bank to block their WERO account, temporarily freeze their bank account and request reimbursement of any fraudulent transactions.
