Luxembourg's National Roads Administration has announced upcoming roadworks on the A1 motorway between the Mertert and the Wasserbillig interchanges.
In order to continuously improve road infrastructure, the Roads Administration will renew the surface course on the A1 motorway on the section between the Mertert and the Wasserbillig interchanges from around 08:00 on Friday 17 October until around 05:00 on Monday 20 October 2025. To limit the impact on weekday traffic, the works will take place over the weekend.
During these works, traffic on the A1 motorway will be reduced to one lane in both directions with the maximum speed limited to 70 km/h.
As part of the construction work, the Wasserbillig exit, which also serves as an access point for the Wasserbillig rest area on the A1 motorway towards Trier (Germany), will be closed. Diversions will be put in place and indicated by signage.
Motorists wishing to access the Wasserbillig service area, or using the Wasserbillig exit, will be diverted from the Mertert interchange via the N1, N10 and CR141B.
Preparatory work for the motorway closure will be carried out a few hours before the start of the works. Traffic disruptions are therefore expected from late Friday afternoon.
Details of the closures can be found on the CITA website: https://www.cita.lu/fr/chantiers.html
