The City of Luxembourg (VdL) has announced upcoming roadworks on Rue de Wiltz on the section between Rue du Cimetière and Rue de Pont-Remy (including the intersection).

The works will take place from Monday 20 October at 07:00 until Monday 27 October at 06:00.

The works will be split over three phases and involve the following traffic adjustments during the duration of the work:

Phase 1: From 20 October at 07:00 to 26 October at 06:00
Preparatory work on Rue de Wiltz (excluding the intersection of Rue du Cimetière)

During this phase, the following streets will be closed to traffic, except for residents and delivery vehicles, and parking will be prohibited:
• the section of Rue de Wiltz between Rue Jean Sturm and Rue du Cimetière (excluding the intersection);
• Rue de Mondorf;
• Rue Edouard Grenier;
• the section of Rue de Pont-Remy between Rue Adolphe Omlor and Rue Jules Fischer.

Phase 2: From 25 October at 06:00 to 26 October at 06:00
Preparatory work at the Rue de Wiltz - Rue du Cimetière intersection

In addition to the roads affected in Phase 1, the section of Rue du Cimetière between Rue Jules Fischer and Rue St Willibrord, as well as the section of Rue de Wiltz between Rue de Clervaux and Rue du Cimetière, will also be closed to all traffic except for residents and delivery vehicles, and parking will be prohibited.

Phase 3: From 26 October at 06:00 to 27 October at 06:00
Asphalt work on Rue de Wiltz, including the intersection with Rue du Cimetière

During Phase 3 of the work, the following streets will be closed to traffic, except for residents and delivery vehicles:
• the section of Rue du Cimetière between Rue Jules Fischer and Rue St Willibrord;
• Rue de Mondorf;
• Rue Edouard Grenier;
• the section of Rue de Pont-Remy between Rue Adolphe Omlor and Rue Jules Fischer.

During Phase 3 of the work, the road will be closed to traffic and parking will be prohibited on the section of Rue de Wiltz between Rue du Cimetière and Rue de Pont-Remy, including the intersections.

The VdL has recommended that anyone requiring the use of their vehicle from Sunday 26 October at 06:00 to Monday 27 October at 06:00 park outside the affected area, as access to residents’ garages will not be possible during this phase of the works.

The VdL noted that in case of bad weather, the planned works will be postponed to a later date.

Furthermore, the following changes to public transportation are planned:

- toward Lycée Bouneweg / PE, line 2 will be diverted via Rue Jules Fischer. The Pont-Remy, Demy Schlechter and Willibrord stops will be removed;

- lines 3, 5, and 33 will be diverted in both directions via Route de Thionville. The Willibrord and Lycée Bouneweg / LTB stops will be removed and replaced by the Hippodrome stop;

- towards Bonnevoie-Demy Schlechter, line 23 will have its temporary terminus in front of building 55 Rue Demy Schlechter. The Pont-Remy and Demy Schlechter stops will be removed. Towards Eich, the line will depart from the temporary terminus, and the Demy Schlechter and Willibrord stops will be removed.

Diversions will be put in place and indicated by signage.
