On Saturday 24 January 2026, the Rockhal hosted the Luxembourg Song Contest (LSC), where Eva Marija earned the right to represent the country at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) with her song Mother Nature.
Ahead of Eurovision 2026, which will take place in Vienna, Austria in May 2026, the national selection brought together eight participants this year from whom Mother Nature received 222 points in the final round of voting, finishing well ahead of Sweet Tooth by Steve Castile, who scored 136 points. Votes were cast by both an international jury and the viewing public.
Mother Nature, a nostalgic and hopeful song about reconnecting with childhood and nature, was composed by Eva Marija (aka Eva Puc), with her team Maria Broberg (aka Maria Mathea) and two Danes - songwriter Julie Aagaard and producer Thomas Stengaard.
"There was a really special energy and flow within our group. We based the song on the feeling of childhood, when you'd be playing carefree within parks and forests," recalled Eva in December 2025.
"Mother Nature uses nature as a symbol of hope, freedom and groundedness. It calls to reconnect with your inner child and let go of your fears." At the end of the recording session, Eva improvised a violin solo, which stayed in the final version and featured in the competition performance.
The other finalists on the night were Andrew the Martian with I’m The Martian, Daryss with Melusina, Hugo One with Born Again, Irem with Bad Decisions (Hush Hush), Luzac with Prison Dorée and ShiroKuro with Eye To Eye.
Organised in the lead-up to the national final, the Rocklab Songwriting Camp, held in Esch-Belval in 2025, formed part of the selection process for this year’s song contest, with six of the eight selected entries originating from the camp.
The initiative brought together nearly 50 songwriters, composers, producers and performers over four days. Working in small groups, participants wrote, recorded and produced complete songs within a single day, resulting in a total of 28 songs.
Eva Marija will perform Mother Nature in the first half of the second semi-final on 14 May, aiming to qualify for the grand final on 16 May 2026.
The ESC 2026 will take place at the Wiener Stadthalle and will be organised by the European Broadcasting Union together with host broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk.
A total of 35 countries are scheduled to participate in ESC 2026, marking the smallest number of participants since the introduction of the semi-final format in 2004. In December 2025, the public broadcasters of Spain, Netherlands, Ireland and Slovenia announced their withdrawal, followed shortly afterwards by Iceland.
