
From Thursday 1 to Sunday 4 May 2025, the Yonex Luxembourg Open 2025 international badminton tournament took place at the Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, with a total prize fund of $10,000.
According to the organisers, the Yonex Luxembourg Open 2025 brought together badminton players from 35 countries, including several ranked in the BWF World Top 100. Among the top-ranked participants were Daniil Dubovenko from Israel (BWF ranked #71), Matthias Kicklitz from Germany (BWF ranked #74) and Jhuo-Fu Liao from Chinese Taipei (BWF ranked #87) in the men's category and Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari from Indonesia (BWF ranked #90) in the women's category. Athletes competed in men's and women's singles and doubles events, as well as in mixed doubles.
In the men's singles, top seed Daniil Dubovenko did not reach the final, having lost to Jhuo-Fu Liao in the semi-final (17-21, 14-21). However, the Chinese Taipei player was stopped in the final by South Korea’s Tae Bin Yoo, who claimed victory in straight sets, 21-19 and 21-16.
In the women’s singles final, two Indonesian players faced off for the title. Top-seeded Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari (BWF ranked #90) competed against compatriot Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi (BWF ranked #122). After splitting the first two sets 21-13 and 13-21, Puspitasari secured victory in the third set with a score of 21-12.
The men’s doubles final also featured an all-Indonesian match-up. Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin defeated Muh Putra Erwiansyah and Daniel Edgar Marvino in straight sets, 21-15, 22-20.
In the women’s doubles final, Indonesia’s Isyana Syahira Meida/Rinjani Kwinara Nastine successfully clinched the title, overcoming Denmark’s Lærke Hvid/Anna Klausholm 21-14, 21-6.
European players claimed one victory in the mixed doubles final. Germany’s Marvin Seidel and Thuc Phuong Nguyen defeated Danish pair Kristoffer Kolding/Mette Werge in three sets: 21-13, 22-24, 21-11.
The Yonex Luxembourg Open also featured a para-badminton demonstration involving players from various categories, including Abdoullah Ait Bella (SU5), Marilou Maurel (WH2) and Maxime Greboval (SH6). The event also welcomed guest Tom Habscheid, a shot put medallist at the 2024 Paralympic Games.
