Following the recent 'ThinkGoodmobility Survey', Goodyear and ThinkYoung announced on Thursday 15 October 2015 the launch of a new initiative, the 'ThinkGoodMobility Challenge', to encourage the sharing of solutions and ideas of mobility trends across Europe.
In the 'ThinkGoodMobility' Survey, science, technology, engineering, art and design and mathematics (STEAM) students were asked for their impressions and understanding of the key challenges for the automobile industry in 2025.
As the survey showed that young people in Europe want to avoid being seen as the generation which stood still in terms of green solutions by generations to come, the Challenge will aim to draw on the solutions and ideas developed by young people as a means of addressing mobility obstacles for the future such as congestion, sustainability, urban pollution, interconnectivity, population growth and road safety.
The challenge most cited by Millenials is to build a sustainable transport solution with a focus on environmentally-friendly technology, followed by ensuring the possibility to drive an affordable but technologically up-to-date vehicle in 2025. As this generation holds the digital know-how to understand the importance of innovation and creativity, the Challenge is targeting ambitious, enthusiastic and creative young people.
"At Goodyear we continously work to create tyres and services that meet the highest standards in road safety, innovation and sustainability to mett your requirements today and in the future," commented Carlos Cipollitti, General Director of the Goodyear Innovation Centre in Luxembourg. "That is why Goodyear, together with ThinkYoung, invites the drivers of the future to share their vision for smart and sustainable mobility in 2025 and to compete for the best solution."
Drivers of the future are invited to shar effective and insightful ideas on Sustainable Mobility, with proposals for building a sustainable car with environmentally-friendly technology; or Smart Mobility, with ideas for creating a smart, affordable car focused on latest technologies and higher levels of connectivity.
Entries for the Challenge must be submitted by university students aged between 18 and 30 in the EU and Turkey before 15 December 2015. Proposals will then be evaluated by an independent jury of automotive experts.
In the framework of the challenge and side from the recognitions for merits awarded as part of it, the Goodyear Global Innovation Centre in Luxembourg may grant a six month internship to an outstanding candidate demonstrating a deep understanding and unique perspective on the future of mobility through their proposal.
