On Monday 22 June 2026, the City of Luxembourg (VdL) announced that afternoon classes for pupils in Cycles 1 to 4 will be suspended on Wednesday 24 June and Friday 26 June 2026 due to the high temperatures forecast across the Grand Duchy.
The decision was taken by the College of Mayor and Aldermen of Luxembourg City in consultation with the Education Service and Regional Directorate 01. Morning classes will take place as normal, while supervision of pupils will continue to be provided by teaching staff during the usual school hours.
School transport services will operate according to their normal schedules.
The VdL also confirmed that its after-school care centres (foyers scolaires) and childcare facilities (crèches) will remain open as usual.
