At the cabinet meeting of the Luxembourg government, held on Friday 31 October 2025, the ministers agreed a budget of €138 million for future railway redevelopment projects, part of the National Mobility Plan 2035.
The ministers approved the draft law amending the amended law of 6 June 2019, concerning the management, access and use of railway infrastructure and the regulation of the rail market.
This specific project aims to modernise the railway infrastructure at the western end of Luxembourg Gare, improving and optimising the regularity of rail traffic while eliminating existing bottlenecks. It includes in particular the renewal of tracks, the creation of an additional track between Hollerich and Luxembourg Gare, the construction of a new platform, the separation of lines 70 (towards Pétange) and 80 (new Luxembourg-Bettembourg line), and the removal of the current Hollerich stop, in preparation for the construction of the future transport hub.
