On Friday 21 November 2025, Luxembourg's national railway company, the CFL, announced that from Sunday 14 December it will offer enhanced train services on various routes across the Grand Duchy.

The CFL said that to continue promoting the importance of rail travel in the Käldall and its connection to public transport, the train service between Noertzange and Rumelange will be “significantly strengthened”. From Sunday 14 December 2025, the number of trains will increase from seven trains per day to two trains per hour (between 06:00–08:00 and 16:00–19:00), and one train per hour outside peak times.

The CFL noted that particular attention has been paid to train connections at Noertzange station to facilitate the onward journey of customers travelling to Luxembourg Station and, together with changes implemented by the Public Transport Administration, this enhanced train offering will complement the improved bus services connecting the Käldall to the south of the country.

On the Luxembourg–Ettelbruck–Troisvierges–Gouvy line, CFL will offer additional trains at weekends and on public holidays from Sunday 14 December. The additional services, previously available only from April to September, will now run every weekend and public holiday throughout the year.

Four trains per hour between Luxembourg and Ettelbruck and two trains per hour between Luxembourg and Troisvierges, will be available to customers at weekends and on public holidays all year round.

CFL said it aims to meet the needs of leisure passengers and cyclists, whose numbers continue to grow as they explore the north of Luxembourg and noted that between 2019 and 2024, the number of customers travelling on Saturdays on the Northern Line more than doubled.

The CFL also announced that to facilitate travel for the many cross-border workers travelling to the Grand Duchy from Belgium, they will offer a faster, through service with no train change between Luxembourg and Libramont from Sunday 14 December 2025.

To this end, several regional trains that previously operated only between Luxembourg and Arlon (and vice versa) will be extended to Libramont. These trains will serve Luxembourg, Bertrange–Strassen, Mamer-Lycée (during school periods Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 20:00), Mamer, Capellen, Kleinbettingen, Arlon, Viville, Stockem, Habay, Marbehan, Neufchâteau and Libramont. The CFL said this new service reduces travel time for customers travelling from or beyond Arlon who previously had to change trains there.
