On Wednesday 26 August 2026, the City of Luxembourg (VdL) launched a call for applications for the rental of premises located at 24-26 Avenue de la Gare, as part of its "pop-up stores" initiative, with a view to setting up a temporary business there from October 2026.
Until Sunday 13 September 2026, interested entrepreneurs, traders and start-ups can submit their applications via the form available on the VdL website. Only complete applications, including the form and a project description, will be considered. The selection criteria include the availability of candidates as well as the originality and quality of the proposed concepts.
Practical arrangements and technical details
The premises have a surface area of 815 m², comprising 400 m² in the basement and 415 m² on the ground floor. An additional approximately 224 m² is available on the first floor, including areas for administrative use, sanitary facilities and storage space.
Proposals in the fields of clothing, accessories and jewellery, home equipment, services and leisure, care and beauty, art, fashion and photography, as well as packaged dry food, are authorised.
The rental period is eleven months. The rent is set at a minimum of €1,000 per month and depends on the status of the applicant. A general flat rate for charges is added to the rent.
The VdL's "pop-up stores" project
By providing short-term rental of commercial spaces, the VdL aims to offer creators, entrepreneurs and start-ups the opportunity to test a new product, service or concept in direct contact with their customers. Thus, the concept of "pop-up stores" serves as a springboard for tenants who can gain initial experience in a physical store before launching definitively into commerce. In addition, pop-up stores help to enrich the commercial offering and attract a varied public.
Owners of temporarily unoccupied commercial spaces wishing to join the project can contact the Economic and Commercial Development Unit of the VdL (Contact: tel: +352 4796-5000 (Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00) / email: dec@vdl.lu).
