On Wednesday 17 December 2025, Luxembourg's national railway company, the CFL, reported on the ongoing improvements to its passenger information system.
The CFL noted that since mid-December 2025, 64 displays across 27 stations and stops have been updated as part of the passenger information system. It said this system now allows the composition of CFL trains to be displayed before their arrival at the station, thereby helping to facilitate and speed up boarding for passengers.
Co-created in close collaboration with a panel of passengers consulted by CFL during 2024, the new train composition display now provides the following information to passengers on the platforms:
• number of carriages available to passengers (train length);
• location of first and second-class seats;
• dedicated spaces for passengers with reduced mobility;
• spaces reserved for bicycles.
The CFL announced that the update of its information system will continue in 2026 with a technical update of all 179 platform displays installed across the 68 stations and stops under its management.
The CFL said: “Passenger information will continue to evolve in the future. For example, the occupancy rate of a train will also be included in the train composition display on platform screens. This new information will allow passengers to find an available seat more easily and quickly. The composition of trains will also be incorporated during 2026 into the new CFL mobile application.”
It added: “Access to simple, coherent, and easily understandable information before, during, and after travel remains an important criterion for the perceived quality of a train journey.”
Stations and stops which now feature updated information facilities: Bertrange-Strassen; Betzdorf; Capellen; Cents-Hamm; Dippach-Reckange; Dudelange-Burange; Dudelange-Centre; Dudelange-Usines; Dudelange-Ville; Hollerich; Kayl; Kleinbettingen; Leudelange; Mamer; Mamer-Lycée; Manternach; Mertert; Munsbach; Oetrange; Roodt; Rumelange; Sandweiler-Contern; Schouweiler; Tétange; Volmerange; Wiltz.
