VdL Announces City Car Boot Sales, Traffic Adjustments

On Tuesday 28 April 2026, the City of Luxembourg (VdL) announced the details of a series of car boot sales, which will take place in Luxembourg Gare in May, June, July, September and October 2026.

The VdL described the car boot sales as “a large open-air swap meet where private individuals can display and sell, on an occasional basis, items they no longer need”. Distinct from the city’s antique market, which is reserved for professional sellers, the car boot sale is “a must-attend event for bargain hunters and lovers of original and unusual items”.

The first car boot sale will take place on Sunday 3 May from 10.00 to 17.00 hours on Avenue de la Gare.

Upcoming dates:

• Sunday 7 June – Place Guillaume II

• Sunday 5 July – Place Guillaume II

• Sunday 6 September – Avenue de la Gare

• Sunday 4 October – Place Guillaume II

To facilitate the car boot sales, the VdL has announced that Avenue de la Gare and adjacent streets will be closed to traffic and parking on Sunday 3 May.

In addition, the following changes to public transport will apply from 04.00 to 20.00 hours:

• Lines 2 and 9: towards Bonnevoie, stop Wallis Quai 4 will be suspended and replaced by a temporary stop Avranches Quai 2, located at 16 Boulevard d’Avranches, at the junction with Rue du Fort Wallis. Towards the city centre, stop Wallis Quai 3 will be suspended and replaced by a temporary stop Avranches Quai 1, located opposite 6 Boulevard d’Avranches.

• Lines 5 and 33: towards Bonnevoie, stop Wallis Quai 2 will be moved approximately 20 m, in front of building 10. Towards the city centre, stop Wallis Quai 1 will be suspended and replaced by a temporary stop Avranches Quai 1, located opposite 6 Boulevard d’Avranches.

• Lines 4, 10, 14, 22 and 23: towards Hollerich, buses will be diverted via the Bonnevoie ring road. Stops Al Avenue Quai 2 and Central Station Quai 2 will be suspended and replaced by the following stops: temporary stop Avranches Quai 2, located at 16 Boulevard d’Avranches, at the junction with Rue du Fort Wallis, Gare Rocade Quai 2, and temporary stop Central Station / Rue de Hollerich Quai 2, located in Rue de Hollerich.

Towards the city centre (and towards Eich for line 23), stops Central Station Quai 1 and Al Avenue Quai 1 will be suspended and replaced by the temporary stop Central Station / Rue de Hollerich Quai 1, located in Rue de Hollerich, Gare Rocade Quai 1, and temporary stop Avranches Quai 1, located opposite 6 Boulevard d’Avranches.

Due to the Konscht am Gronn event, line 23 will be diverted in both directions via Fetschenhof and Pulvermuhl, and the Grund district (Stadgronn, Bréck stop) will not be served. However, a shuttle N23 to the Grund will be introduced from Gare Rocade Quai 1, departing at the same times as line 23, both from Gare Rocade and the Grund.

• Lines 13 and 18: towards Gasperich, buses will be diverted via the Bonnevoie ring road. Stops Al Avenue Quai 2 and Central Station Quai 2 will be suspended and replaced by the following stops: temporary stop Avranches Quai 2, located at 16 Boulevard d’Avranches, at the junction with Rue du Fort Wallis, Gare Rocade Quai 2, and temporary stop Wenceslas I Quai 2 in Rue Wenceslas I.

Towards the city centre, stops Central Station Quai 1 and Al Avenue Quai 1 will be suspended and replaced by temporary stop Wenceslas I Quai 1, located in Rue Wenceslas I, Gare Rocade Quai 1, and temporary stop Avranches Quai 1, located opposite 6 Boulevard d’Avranches.

• Line 29: towards Hesperange, Cité Um Schlass, stops Wallis Quai 1 and Central Station Quai 2 will be suspended and replaced by Gare Rocade Quai 2. Towards the Airport and Senningerberg, stops Central Station Quai 1 and Al Avenue Quai 1 will be suspended and replaced by Gare Rocade Quai 1.
