Sportspress.lu has announced the appointment of Christelle Diederich as Vice-President of AIPS Europe, the European Sports Media Section of AIPS, the International Sports Press Association.

From Thursday 9 to Monday 13 April 2026, Sportspress.lu was represented at the AIPS Congress in Lausanne, Switzerland, by its President, Christelle Diederich, and its Secretary General, Pierrot Feltgen. In addition to continental and global meetings, the programme included exchanges with international sports federations such as FIFA and UEFA. However, the main focus of the Congress was the election of board at members both European and global level.

Within AIPS Europe, Christelle Diederich was elected to the European Board for the first time, receiving 30 of the 42 possible votes. She is the first Luxembourger to sit on this body and is also the only female member. Following a proposal by the new President, Frenchman Marc Ventouillac, she was appointed Vice-President of AIPS Europe for the next four years at the board's first meeting.

In the AIPS global election, long-serving president Gianni Merlo from Italy secured a decisive victory over the Hungarian candidate.

The congress also paid tribute to the late Petz Lahure, honorary president of Sportspress.lu and a member of the AIPS Ethics Committee.
