The feminist platform Journée Internationale des Femmes (JIF) will hold its annual "Marche Féministe" ("Fraestreik" or Feminist March) in Luxembourg City on the occasion of International Women's Day on Sunday 8 March 2026.
The march will depart from Place de Paris at 14:00.
This year's motto is "Smash the Patriarchy", with the organisers stating: "We are going to celebrate the strength, courage and solidarity of women everywhere. But this day is also about raising our voices, challenging inequality and standing together for a more just world."
The central theme of this year's march is "Health as a Right, Not a Privilege". The organisers are advocating a feminist vision of health and have listed the following demands:
- guaranteed universal, free and unconditional access to healthcare for all;
- ending medical blind spots and gender bias in care;
- making sexual, reproductive and gynaecological heath a central pillar of social justice;
- recognising violence and discrimination as major public health issues;
- acting on social determinants for a more inclusive ("solidaire") mental health system.
