Following the success of action game and leisure facility Prison Island Metz in Moulins-Lès-Metz (France), its operators, Action Games, have announced the opening of Prison Island Luxembourg in Howald.
Prison Island is an escape-based action game which, unlike traditional escape games, does not feature a linear game play format and a scenario involving escape from a single room. Instead, the concept is based on a dynamic and non-linear format where teams do not follow an imposed path but move freely in a game space composed of several cells with varied themes, choosing themselves the order of the challenges to take on.
Established in Vä, Kristianstad (Sweden) in 2004, Action Games now operates more than 100 sites across approximately twenty countries worldwide and has recorded more than 6.5 million visitors consisting of families, friends and company groups to its Prison Island experience.
The operators of the Luxembourg franchise said: “The opening in Luxembourg represents an important new step in this expansion, confirming the attractiveness of the concept on varied and rapidly evolving markets.”
The success of the Metz site, which currently welcomes around 40,000 people per year, has recently expanded to include Groove Island, a space dedicated to musical leisure (karaoke, music quiz and blind test).
The Howald location covers 950 m² which can welcome more than 80 players at the same time. Suitable for players ages eight (accompanied by an adult) and above, with teams composed of two to five players, each gaming session is based on 28 cells offering 28 different challenges. Each session runs from around 60 to 90 minutes.
The Howald site also features a meeting room dedicated to companies, which caters for professional events and team building activities.
Managers of Prison Island Metz and Prison Island Luxembourg, Romuald Gauthier and Sébastian Scheck said: “We want to make Prison Island Luxembourg a new reference for indoor entertainment in the Grand Duchy.”
