On Thursday 10 July 2025, Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth reported that 577 vocational training students obtained their Technician's Diploma (DT) at the end of the summer 2025 session.
The overall success rate was 91%, an improvement of 7.25% compared to the previous academic year. The rate was 83.75% in 2024 and 88.65% in 2023.
The first cohort of the electric mobility technician training programme, launched in September 2023, included thirteen candidates, all of whom obtained their diplomas.
Of the 634 candidates admitted to complete a final integrated project to complete their technician training, thirteen were not assessed and 44 did not successfully complete their project. For the latter, a resit session will be organised in October 2025.
The training programme leading to the DT normally lasts four years. It is primarily organised full-time in secondary schools with internships in companies (minimum twelve weeks in total, under an internship contract) or concurrently, in secondary school and in companies (under an apprenticeship contract). A series of training programmes leading to the technician diploma are organised over two years, but only accessible with a diploma or prior training. This is the case, for example, with the aforementioned DT in electric mobility.
After obtaining their Technician's Diploma, students can consider higher technical studies in the specialty corresponding to the training, provided they have successfully completed the preparatory modules. Technicians can also pursue a master's degree in a craft trade or continue a course in the upper classes of general secondary education.
