From Friday 24 to Sunday 26 July 2026, Esch-sur-Alzette hosted the final stage of the Lux Beach Tour 2026, with Luxembourg's top beach volleyball players competing for the national titles at Gaalgebierg Park.
The women's competition saw Carlotta Kauka and Lara Picht crowned national champions after defeating Laura Ruellan and Nadja Schaus in straight sets (21-18, 21-19) in a closely contested final.
In the bronze medal match, Nati San Martin and Gosia Plusa came from one set down to overcome Marthe Lorang and Karolina Complak 2-1 (18-21, 21-19, 15-9).
In the men's competition, Colin Hilbert and Steve Weber successfully defended their national title with a 2-0 victory (21-18, 21-13) over fellow Luxembourg internationals Lucas Pernossi and Matthis Wolff. The opening set proved highly competitive before the defending champions took control in the second to secure their fourth consecutive national title.
Chris Zender and Chris Zuidberg claimed the bronze medals after edging Loris Centrone and Tim Mangen 2-0 (21-19, 22-20).
Speaking to Chronicle.lu, Steve Weber said the final was particularly special as it marked the first time Luxembourg's two men's national teams had faced each other in the national championship match: "I think we've never had the national teams face off in the Luxembourg finals because so far it's always been foreign teams. This year was the first year where all eight semi-finalists in the men's competition were Luxembourgish, so it was special."
He also noted that, unlike last year's rain-soaked tournament, this year's sunny weather attracted many more spectators: "We had the sun this year and it was nice and warm. There was no downpour, so we had a lot more people there to support and watch. This year was very, very nice and I'm really happy that we could finish it with our fourth consecutive title."
Both finalists, Colin Hilbert / Steve Weber and Lucas Pernossi / Matthis Wolff, will now represent Luxembourg at the MEVZA Beach Tour, which takes place at Baggerweier in Remerschen from Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August 2026.
Looking ahead to the tournament, Steve Weber told Chronicle.lu: "Our goal for MEVZAs is always to reach the quarter-finals. But since it's in Luxembourg, reaching the semi-finals would be amazing!"
