Details:

The European Consumer Centre Luxembourg, the European Parliament Liaison Office in Luxembourg and the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg are organising a "Midi du consommateur européen" (European consumer lunch) at the European Parliament Europa Experience building in Luxembourg-Kirchberg on Thursday 15 January 2026, from 12:30 to 13:30.

As part of ongoing European efforts to strengthen the rights of people with disabilities, the discussion will review the current state of consumer rights and accessibility. The organisers noted that, while the implementation of the European Accessibility Act (EAA) continues in Member States, there are still several questions to consider: What progress has been made? What challenges persist? What priorities are needed to accelerate inclusion?

To answer these and other questions, Anne Calteux, Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg, will present the European perspective on the implementation of the EAA, as well as the actions undertaken to strengthen the accessibility of products and services within the single market. Meanwhile, Christine Zimmer, Director of Info-Handicap, will provide the perspective of consumers with disabilities, highlighting their concrete concerns, the obstacles encountered and priority expectations for full and effective participation. Moreover, François Engels, Director of the Office for the Supervision of the Accessibility of Products and Services (OSAPS), will explain the progress observed in the Grand Duchy, the checks carried out and the challenges encountered in applying the legislation.

The session will begin with an introductory video message from Marc Angel, Luxembourg MEP and Quaestor of the European Parliament, who will highlight the importance of accessibility and consumer rights for people with disabilities at European level.

The presentation, moderated by Thomas Segrétain, Director of the European Consumer Centre Luxembourg, will be in French, with simultaneous interpretation in German and German Sign Language. Questions may be asked in German, English and French.

The event is free of charge but registration is required via email: midi@cecluxembourg.lu or via tel.: 268 464 1.

The organisers will provide refreshments for participants.

To access the Europa Experience building, attendees must present an identity card or passport at the entrance.
