Luxembourg Film Fund has reported that the Grand Duchy is prominently featured at the 37th edition of the Galway Film Fleadh, an international film festival held in Galway, Ireland from Tuesday 8 to Sunday 13 July 2025.
Four Luxembourg co-productions are being showcased at this year's festival. Opening the 2025 edition and competing in the official selection, Re-Creation, co-produced with Luxembourg's Joli Rideau Media (Fabrizio Maltese), is the latest film by Irish filmmaker Jim Sheridan (five-time Oscar nominee), co-directed with David Merriman. The film stars Vicky Krieps in the lead role alongside Aidan Gillen, Colm Meaney and Jim Sheridan himself. The Irish premiere took place in Galway, attended by Vicky Krieps and fellow Luxembourg actresses Maja Juric and Elena Spautz.
A second Luxembourg-Irish co-production, The Wolf, The Fox and The Leopard, by Deal Productions (Alexandra Hoesdorff and Désirée Nosbusch) and starring Luxembourgish actress Marie Jung as Wyona, is also in official competition.
Film Fund Luxembourg noted that these selections highlight the potential of artistic collaborations between Luxembourg and Ireland, a key international partner for the Grand Duchy in film production.
In addition to these two feature films, Luxembourg is also represented in the festival's immersive section. Festival-goers can discover Oto's Planet, the multi-award-winning virtual reality (VR) space tale by filmmaker Gwenaël François, produced by the Luxembourg-based company Skill Lab (Julien Becker). Also featured is The Dollhouse, an immersive work directed by Charlotte Bruneau and Dominic Desjardins, co-produced by Wild Fang Films (Hélène Walland/Christian Neuman), which had its world premiere at the last Cannes Film Festival. Both productions are also participating in an international roundtable on immersive creation.
On Tuesday 8 July, the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Ireland and Film Fund Luxembourg hosted a reception celebrating the selected works and the Luxembourgish talents involved. The evening event, held on the sidelines of the festival, was attended by Luxembourg's Ambassador to Ireland, Florence Ensch, Film Fund Luxembourg Director Guy Daleiden and several audiovisual professionals.
