The Association for Organic Farming Luxembourg (Vereenegung fir Biolandwirtschaft Lëtzebuerg ASBL), in collaboration with Luxembourg’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture, has announced the third BIO-Woch - an awareness campaign for Luxembourg’s organic agriculture, which will take place from Friday 19 to Sunday 28 September 2025 across the Grand Duchy.

The Biovereenegung held a press conference on Wednesday 10 September 2025 at the Thill family’s organic farm in Dippach, attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Viticulture, Martine Hansen, to present the programme of the third BIO-Woch and outline its objectives.

The aim of the BIO-Woch is to inform consumers about organic producers and promote local production under Luxembourgish slogans such as “Dem Bio-Bauer säi ganze Stolz” (“The organic farmer’s pride”) and “Naturbeloosse reng Bio-Iesswuere vun heiheem” (“Naturally pure organic food from here”).

As part of the BIO-Woch, special street signs will be installed across twelve municipalities directing towards the nearest organic farm or producer. They show the way and provide additional information via a QR code: “Bio vun heiheem an dénger Noperschaft” (“Organic from our region in your neighbourhood”). The initiative underlines that organic products in Luxembourg often are readily available but not always visible to consumers.

During the event, various activities will be organised in organic farms, municipalities, restaurants and supermarkets to introduce the public to agriculture, established organic projects and the flavours of Luxembourgish organic products.

Daniela Noesen from the Biovereenegung emphasised: “Organic farming is an essential component of Luxembourg. Its contributions to nature and thus to society are so valuable that they must be continuously highlighted. The BIO-Woch is perfectly suited for this, as organic [farming] is a pleasure for both people and nature.”

The BIO-Woch coincides with the European Organic Day on 23 September, when the European Organic Awards will be presented in Brussels in seven award categories. This is described as an occasion to celebrate the organic farming sector and to discover the qualities and benefits of organic production.

Once again this year for BIO-Woch, those producing organic food in Luxembourg, in agriculture, viticulture, gardening and food processing, will open the doors of their stables and farms and invite the public to discover their operations. Visitors can take a look behind the scenes, learn about the workings of organic farms, ask questions, satisfy their curiosity and taste organic products from the region.

The organisers encouraged the public to contribute to a responsible and resilient future by supporting Luxembourg’s organic farmers.
