The Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has reported a “successful” season for Grand Ducal Palace tours.
To close the season on Tuesday 9 September 2025, Grand Duke Henri welcomed the official guides of LCTO, who provided guided tours of the Grand Ducal Palace to highlight the importance of the tours for local cultural life and show appreciation for their commitment.
As every summer, the Grand Ducal Palace once again opened its doors to school groups and visitors from around the world, offering exclusive tours organised by LCTO in close collaboration with the Palace’s protocol department.
The guided tours of the Grand Ducal Palace again welcomed large numbers of visitors in summer 2025. From 30 June to 11 July, the offer was aimed exclusively for cycle 4 primary school classes and participation was free of charge. A total of 70 school classes took part.
Public visits took place from 17 July to 31 August 2025, with 439 guided tours organised, welcoming nearly 9,658 visitors from around the world. By mid-August, the season was fully booked, reaching a 100% occupancy rate. Tours were held from Monday to Saturday ten times a day, and on Sundays seven times. They were conducted in four languages: German, French, English and Luxembourgish.
Informative leaflets with integrated QR codes were distributed, allowing visitors to make direct donations to the Fondation du Grand-Duc et de la Grande-Duchesse via Payconiq. Most of the proceeds from the tours will also be donated to the foundation.
During the season, the LCTO highlighted a particularly memorable moment with 90-year-old guide Jean-Pierre Wagener, who led his final tour on 28 July 2025. Since 1993, he has welcomed countless visitors with his famous “Moien! Ech heesche Jean-Pierre...” (“Hello! My name is Jean-Pierre...”) greeting. He has now retired after more than three decades of service.
