The Grand Ducal Police have reported that two men were arrested in Esch-sur-Alzette on Monday 6 October 2025, after a vehicle check during which stolen property and drugs were discovered.
According to the initial report, on Thursday evening a police patrol stopped a vehicle on Rue du Fossé in Esch-sur-Alzette which had disregarded a no-entry sign. During the check, the driver was unable to produce a driving licence and a stolen credit card was found inside the vehicle.
The driver and passenger were subsequently taken to the station for further official procedures and both were subjected to a search. During the search, cash, drugs and a mobile phone were seized from the driver. Furthermore, another stolen bank card was discovered inside the vehicle.
Further investigations revealed that the card had been stolen as part of a fraud scheme in which the victim was contacted by individuals posing as Luxtrust employees.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered a search of the driver’s residence, during which two additional mobile phones were confiscated. A report was drawn up by officers.
During the check of the passenger, it was established that an arrest warrant was outstanding against him. He was subsequently taken to the prison facility (Centre pénitentiaire d’Uerschterhaff - CPU) in Sanem.
