The Grand Ducal Police have reported that on Wednesday 5 November 2025, they carried out several large-scale traffic checks in the districts of Luxembourg-Cessange and Luxembourg-Gasperich, which focused primarily on vehicle speed, the use of mobile phones while driving and illegal parking.
According to the police, during a check in Kohlenberg, fifteen drivers received on-the-spot fines for exceeding the speed limit within a built-up area by up to fifteen km/h (€49).
On Route d’Esch, six drivers were fined for using a mobile phone while driving (€250 and four points) and three drivers were fined due to issues with vehicle documentation. In addition, one driver received a fine for disregarding a parking restriction (€24).
During checks on Rue Isaac Newton, Rue Gerhard Mercator and Rue Leonardo da Vinci, officers found that nine drivers had ignored parking bans (€24), five drivers had obstructed traffic with a stationary vehicle (€49) and three drivers had parked on the pavement (€49).
A speed check on Rue Benjamin Franklin resulted in two drivers being fined for exceeding the speed limit within a built-up area by more than fifteen km/h (€145 and two points).
A further speed check took place on Boulevard de Kockelscheuer, where nine drivers were fined for exceeding the speed limit within a built-up area by more than fifteen km/h (€145 and two points). A report was drawn up against one driver for a speeding offence. Two drivers were also fined for using a mobile phone while driving (€250 and four points).
On Rue de Beethoven, one driver was fined for exceeding the permitted speed of fifty km/h by more than fifteen km/h (€145 and two points).
Moreover, during additional checks in the districts of Cessange and Gasperich, six further drivers were fined for using a mobile phone while driving (€250 and four points) and two drivers were fined due to issues with vehicle documentation. One driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was fined accordingly (€145 and two points).
