The Joint Operational Command Post (JOCP) met on Monday evening, 22 June 2026 at the National Crisis Centre in Senningen; in accordance with the new government's Severe Weather and Flood Plan, the JOCP met on Monday from 16:00 to midnight.

The inter-ministerial operational cell brought together representatives from the Luxembourg Army, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), the Directorate of Health, the Grand Ducal Police, the City of Luxembourg and the High Commission for National Protection (HCPN).

In collaboration with experts from the assessment cell (CERI), the JOCP monitored the weather situation, its impacts and potential developments. It also ensured the centralisation of information regarding human and material impacts, the identification of operational needs, and the coordination of inter-agency interventions.

On Monday, temperatures reached approximately 34°C. The persistence of night-time temperatures above 20°C from Monday to Tuesday prolonged a particularly high level of heat stress.

Update on Interventions and Incidents

According to the JCOP, thanks to the increased mobilisation of emergency services and the responsible behaviour of citizens, who followed the authorities' recommendations, the number of interventions was contained. No major heat-related incidents were reported.

In total, the CGDIS (Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps) recorded approximately 300 interventions throughout Monday until midnight, while the number of patients in hospital emergency departments was slightly above average.

The authorities reiterate their call for caution and will continue to closely monitor the evolving situation.
