The Grand Ducal Police have reported that during the night of Thursday 6 November to Friday 7 November 2025, they carried out alcohol intoxication checks on the instruction of the Public Prosecutor, as provided for in Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 concerning traffic regulations on all public roads.
According to the police, the checks took place specifically at the following locations and times in Dikkrecherstrooss, from 22:30 to 23:30 and in Heffingen from 00:00 to 01:00.
In total, 54 drivers were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication. In two cases, the test proved positive and an official report and fixed-penalty notices were issued. No driving licences were confiscated on site.
The police also reported that on the evening of Thursday 6 November, at approximately 22:40, the police received a report of a vehicle parked in the middle of the road in Rue des Martyrs in Esch-sur-Alzette, with the driver apparently asleep at the wheel.
A police patrol attended immediately and found the driver, whom they were able to wake. As he displayed clear signs of alcohol consumption, he was subjected to a breath test, which was positive. His driving licence was confiscated.
Moreover, during the early hours of Friday 7 November, a police patrol stopped a vehicle on Route de Luxembourg in Bereldange due to its erratic driving. The breath test carried out on the driver returned a positive result and the driving licence was confiscated.
