On Tuesday 13 January 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that multiple driving offences were recorded during large-scale traffic checks in Dudelange and Pétange on Thursday 8 January 2026.
According to the police, the traffic checks focused on regulations relating to visibility, lighting, tyres and the general technical condition of vehicles.
During the checks, fifteen drivers were issued fines for using their headlights’ flash outside the permitted framework. In addition, sixteen drivers were found to be using their mobile phones while driving. One driver was found to be not wearing a seat belt at the time of the check.
Furthermore, seven of the drivers checked were unable to produce a valid driving licence, while two others could not present a valid road tax disc. One additional driver did not hold a driving licence at all and another did not have vehicle insurance. Three vehicles were also not covered by a valid technical inspection certificate.
In four cases, defects were identified in the vehicles’ lighting systems and in a further four cases issues were found with the tyres.
Five drivers failed to comply with the prescribed speed limit in the area.
Moreover, in two cases, technical defects or unauthorised modifications were identified on the vehicles inspected.
