The Grand Ducal Police have reported several incidents that occurred on Sunday 8 and Monday 9 February 2026, including drink-driving offences, burglaries and thefts from vehicles.
On Saturday morning, police were informed of a heavily intoxicated driver in Koerich. A patrol located the individual shortly afterwards on Rue de Koerich in Steinfort. The driver tested positive in an alcohol test and was issued with a provisional driving ban.
In a separate incident early on Sunday morning, police officers on patrol in Rue Adolphe Fischer in Luxembourg-Gare noticed a vehicle travelling at excessive speed. During the ensuing check, the driver showed clear signs of alcohol consumption and tested positive in a breathalyser test. His driving licence was confiscated.
Police also reported several burglaries in recent hours. Around midday on Sunday, unknown perpetrators forced entry into an apartment in a multi-family building on Route de Luxembourg in Bettembourg by prying open a patio door and rummaged through all rooms. Later the same day, another burglary was reported at a single-family house on Rue de Rumelange in Tétange, where intruders also gained access via a patio door and searched several rooms. Investigations are ongoing.
In addition, several thefts from vehicles were reported. Around midday on Sunday, a vehicle parked on Dernier Sol Street in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie was broken into after a window was smashed. Later that afternoon, another theft was reported on Rue Louis Pasteur in Differdange, where a handbag was stolen from a car after a window was broken. A police patrol was able to apprehend two suspects shortly afterwards. During a body search, the stolen handbag and further suspected stolen items were recovered. On the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a report was drawn up.
Police investigations are ongoing in all cases.
