On Wednesday 8 July 2026, Luxembourg's Ministry of Research and Higher Education, Ministry for Digitalisation and Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs announced that Costa Rica's Minister of Science, Innovation, Technology and Telecommunications, Paula Bogantes Zamora, had paid a working visit to Luxembourg.
According to the ministries, she was welcomed by Stéphanie Obertin. During their meeting, the two ministers discussed several shared priorities, including support for innovation, the development of digital skills and the strategic use of data to improve services for citizens.
The talks also focused on Luxembourg's strategies in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), data and quantum technologies, as well as best practices in digitalisation and digital sovereignty.
The Costa Rican delegation also met with the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade.
Through its implementing agency, LuxDev, Luxembourg Cooperation is currently implementing a bilateral programme in Costa Rica in the fields of digitalisation and e-government, stated the ministries, adding that the programme aims to strengthen the country's digital capacities and improve the delivery of public services.
The ministry further added that, through its embassy in San José, Luxembourg continues to expand its development cooperation with Central American countries as part of a broader regional approach.
