The Grand Ducal Police have reported that multiple alcohol testing checks were carried out in Colmar-Pont, Colmar-Berg and between Roost and Colmar-Berg on Friday 17 April and during the night to Saturday 18 April 2026.

The operations took place on the N7 (Colmar-Pont, Rue d’Ettelbrück), the A7 (Colmar-Berg exit) and the N7 (between Roost and Colmar-Berg).

A total of 1,509 motorists were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indication.

In 44 cases, the test proved positive, resulting in 33 official reports and eleven fixed penalty notices. Fourteen driving licences were withdrawn on the spot, while one additional licence was confiscated in connection with driving under the influence of drugs.

During the checks, additional offences were recorded. Two reports were issued for driving without a valid licence, while 23 drivers were unable to present a driving licence. In three cases, drivers could not provide proof of technical inspection, and ten drivers were fined for failing to present a valid tax disc.

In separate incidents on Friday evening, police also intervened in Luxembourg City in relation to intoxicated individuals causing disturbances.

At around 22:40, officers were called to the “Stadion” tram stop, where a man was reportedly heavily intoxicated and behaving aggressively towards passers-by. According to initial information, he was disturbing public order and posed a risk to himself. Following a medical examination, he was taken into custody.

Earlier that evening, at around 22:15, police were called to the emergency department of Centre Hospitalier Kirchberg, where another man was reportedly causing a disturbance while possibly under the influence of alcohol. As he failed to comply with police instructions, he was also placed in custody after a medical examination.
