The Grand Ducal Police have reported that 267 offences were recorded during a national road safety campaign targeting motorcyclists across Luxembourg between Friday 27 March and Sunday 26 April 2026.

According to the police, the checks focused on proper equipment, the general technical condition of motorcycles and the presence of required vehicle documents.

In total, 25 fixed-penalty notices were issued for speeding offences, while two driving licences were confiscated due to excessive speed. In 41 cases, motorcyclists were unable to present the required vehicle documents.

A further 78 fixed fines were issued due to non-compliant motorcycle equipment, particularly regarding exhaust systems, lighting and licence plates. In sixteen cases, defects were identified in tyres, while two motorcycles were deemed unroadworthy.

In addition, 31 motorcyclists were fined for dangerous driving, including overtaking on the right and failure to use indicators. Thirteen riders were penalised for wearing non-compliant helmets and 23 for failing to wear the mandatory high-visibility vest.

During the same period, thirteen drivers were fined for failing to comply with traffic signs, fourteen for illegal parking and/or driving and two for using a mobile phone while driving.

The police noted that the “Moto 2026” campaign forms part of ongoing efforts to reduce accidents on Luxembourg’s roads and improve safety for all road users. Checks targeting motorcyclists will continue throughout the season.
