On Wednesday 7 January 2026, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) announced that it is currently recruiting new volunteer members in order to strengthen its psychological support group (GSP).
GSP is one of the nine specialised intervention units of CGDIS. It is composed of specially trained volunteers who provide, throughout the year, emergency psychological support for people who have experienced traumatic events following critical incidents. This support is aimed at direct victims, their relatives and also members of the emergency services.
With 248 interventions carried out in 2024, the GSP is the specialised intervention unit with the highest number of deployments, illustrating the growing importance of psychological support within rescue missions. The CGDIS noted that, to maintain response capacity in the face of growing demand, reinforcement of the team is necessary.
As part of the recruitment drive, the CGDIS will organise two information sessions in February 2026, during which the organisation will present the missions of the GSP, the framework for engagement and the specific training provided to future members.
Interested candidates will then undergo a selection procedure, including individual interviews, in order to evaluate their motivation and their ability to carry out this mission.
Recruitment is open both to members of the CGDIS and to external individuals wishing to volunteer within the GSP, with participation in one of the information sessions compulsory in order to apply.
