On Monday 23 March 2026, the Luxembourg Red Cross officially inaugurated its second “Vintage Mo(o)d” charity shop, located in Niederanven.

Launched in 2016, the Vintage Mo(o)d project supports people in need through solidarity shops that offer second-hand clothing from donations at affordable prices and are open to everyone.

Although the space of the new shop is relatively small, it offers a variety of clothing, shoes and household items, including accessories, toys and practical items such as kitchen tools and electronics.

The programme included several keynote speeches, a chance to discover the new premises and an informal reception following the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Speaking at the opening, Michel Simonis, Director of the Luxembourg Red Cross, highlighted the project’s dual purpose of promoting circular economy and social support. He explained that the initiative gives a second life to donated items while helping people in need access affordable clothing and supporting their integration.

Niederanven Mayor, Fred Ternes, welcomed the project and noted its contribution to social cohesion and local community life. He said: “As a municipality, we supported this project because we see a real need for it.” He added that it is important to offer “solutions that are accessible to everyone, without discrimination”.

Minister for Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees, Max Hahn, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting inclusion and independence. He highlighted: “We also need to ensure that these initiatives create pathways for people to reconnect with the labour market and build a more stable future.”

Speaking with Chronicle.lu, Svitlana Nos and Olivier D’Archivio, who are in charge of the shop, explained that since the shop opened its doors to customers on Tuesday 3 February 2026, it has already seen a steady increase in visitors.

Svitlana Nos said: “This shop is much smaller than the one in Livange, but I like it, it is very cosy.” She added that the shop still offers a wide range of items, including clothing, household goods, toys and games, with demand across all categories.

The team also highlighted that the shop receives new stock regularly, with larger deliveries once a week, while donations from the public arrive daily. Svitlana Nos noted: “We sort everything that people bring. We keep some items here and send others to different centres.”

The Vintage Mo(o)d shop in Niederanven is located at 141 Route de Trèves and is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 10:30 and 18:30. A second shop, located in Livange at 18 Rue Geespelt, operates from Monday to Friday also between 10:30 and 18:30, offering an even broader selection of similar second-hand clothing and household items.
